Acupuncture

Acupuncture uses very fine needles placed at specific points on the body.

Often described as relaxing and calming, the treatment takes place in our peaceful clinic setting with soft music in the background.

Needle phobic?

Unlike the movies, we don't cover you with hundreds of needles! And acupuncture certainly doesn't hurt like a blood test. Often weird sensations may be felt - things like heaviness, pulling, tingling can be felt briefly and then you won't feel anything. Believe it or not, many people find it so relaxing and calming that they have a nap on the table.

Western medicine often struggles to articulate how and why acupuncture works. The Acupuncture Evidence Project lists the current research into what conditions acupuncture have been found effective in recent studies. Read more here.

The first recorded treatise (text/book) that discusses acupuncture and channels along the body was the Huang Di Neijing Lingshu (The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine), circa 220 BCE. Since then, acupuncture has undergone continual refinement. Teja and Jacinda practice 'Hunyuan Acupuncture', which is a further refinement of what is broadly termed 'Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)'.
